Kayak Noosa is an environmental outdoor recreation business, specialising in all aspects of kayaking. The business is based at Noosa on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and has been in operation since 2006. Kayak Noosa is owned and operated by Rod and Cath Withyman. 

Cath and Rod have been extremely successful in promoting what was once considered a specialised, elite activity, to the masses. They are recognised as pioneers of commercialking tours in Queensland. They have introduced over 15,000 outdoor enthusiasts to many of Queensland’s well known paddle destinations such as, the Whitsunday Islands, Great Sandy Straits, Moreton Bay & Great Barrier Reef Marine Parks, Keppel Islands and the Noosa region. Rod has also enjoyed a celebrated competitive paddling career starting back in the 1987. Marathon, surf & sprint racing on high performance skis, K1 and outrigger canoes has bagged him a swag of titles during this period.

In 1996, having previously lead Sea Kayak adventures all over the world, in places such as, Canada, Mexico, Central America and New Zealand they established The Aussie Sea Kayak Company, based at Mooloolaba. They recognised the huge potential that Queensland’s magnificent coastal environments offered for sea kayak wilderness experiences. Over the next ten years they grew the business to be the largest commercial Sea Kayak tour operation in Australia. They facilitated and guided more kayak adventure tours, to more destinations than any other company. They were also one of the first adventure businesses in Queensland to obtain Advanced Eco-Tourism Accreditation.

After 10 years of great success, growing and developing Aussie Sea Kayak Company, in 2005, Rod and Cath re-evaluated their business direction, goals and objectives. They chose to strategically downscale the size of their operation to allow them to operate a holistic environmentally, socially and community focused kayaking business, that allowed a family friendly lifestyle. They sold Aussie Sea Kayak Company as a going concern and rebranded the local touring products under the Kayak Noosa label. 

In 2006, Cath and Rod set out a Ten Year plan for Kayak Noosa.

Is achieved through a focus on five fundamental core values:

~ Teach respect and consideration for our environment and wildlife

Kayak Noosa’s goals for conservation and sustainability are simple –

“Do all that we can to protect and conserve the environment so that our kids will be able to enjoy and appreciate the same wonders of nature that we have.”

Kayak Noosa’s enviable reputation as an, innovative and dynamic environmentally sustainable business is evidenced by their success in being awarded the 2011 Living Smart Enviro Business Award for recognition as the Sunshine Coast’s most environmental business also winning the Sustainable Tourism Award in the 2010 Sunshine Coast Environment Awards and being named a finalist in the Steve Irwin Award for Ecotourism category at the 2011 Queensland Tourism Awards. These awards highlight Kayak Noosa's commitment to the environment and conservation of our precious marine ecosystems and wildlife.

Rod & Cath’s passion and energy for kayaking shines through into every aspect of their business. They are proud to have built Kayak Noosa based on the environmental and social ethics they believe in and to have developed a family of customers and guests that continue to grow and flourish along with the business.
